Victory with the Lord
Victory with the Lord
(Freedom from sin)
David Wilkerson
Now we are living under a time of awful demonic seductions. The devil has come to deceive, the Bible said, even, if it were possible, the elect, the chosen of God. This generation is experiencing the flood of temptation unknown to any past generation.
For you that have given up on your sin and you have come to the conclusion that Christians are to live in a struggle all their life, they never get out of Roman 7 into Roman 8, that you live always under the ratchetness of this battle.
And you have made up your mind that it’s a struggle the rest of your life that you will always be under the dominion of some kind of sin.
So you learned to live with it. You do your best you can, try and strive. And then you go on. You never do have that freedom.
God has made a wonderful provision to get us out of Romans 7 into Romans 8.
… Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
(Hebrews 8:8)
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; …
(Hebrews 8:9)
The introduction of two covenants.
God says, “I’m making a new agreement with you.
It’s not like the old agreement I made with you fathers when they were brought out of Egypt.”
It’s not from Mountain Sinai. It’s not the Old Covenant of works, where a man tries to obey God, a man comes to the commandments of obedience, total obedience to the Lord through his works.
Now the Old Covenant was designed by God that convinces the sin-bound man that he is exceedingly sinful and there was no way in his own strength and power He can please God, obey Him.
Now God had to take the man to school, the sin-bound man to school, any man that was bound by sin (Galations 3:24). This was under the old covenant in Mount Sinai.
Why would God make a covenant that He knows no man can fulfill?
It’s the only way God can bring a man to the end of himself and his own strength, bring him to a place called death where he dies to every promise to God that he can do it, where he dies to any hope, any man, any human, any force on this earth that can heal his soul. It’s to bring us to the end of self.
The Bible calls, the law’s ministry is death (Galations 2:19). Not the lawist is good, but that’s what it produces in us, a death of hope, death of any opportunity or strength through my willpower, through my goodness (there is something good inherited in me that I can present to God).
We have a whole world full of people who don’t know Jesus, they’re gonna stand on the Judgement Day, and try their good works at His feet and all the things they’ve done and say, “Well, I didn’t kill anybody. I didn’t do this. I didn’t do that.” and He says, “It’s all filthy rags in my sight.” (Isaiah 64:6)
The Bible says,
“God put a man in school so that when he graduates he graduate as a dead man.”
Say, “God, I know now. I never get out of this on my own strength.
My river of tears won’t deliver me. My promises won’t deliver me.
God, it has to be revelation to me another way. That has to be something else.”
I thank God that the Old Covenant killed me, killed any hope,
the one of my promises, my works, or I can get it, figure it out.
In this day and age, when there is a flood of iniquity spewing out of pits of hell there’s such an exotic temptations, and so many Christians being swallowed up in this flood.
There has to be a message coming forth this last day. This is the only thing I can see is the New Covenant that when you give up dong your own way and you come to the cross and the victory of Jesus Christ, you say, “Holy Ghost, come upon me. You’re the Lord who were the One who save me. If I can believe Jesus to save me from my sins I can believe He can give me dominion over my sins.”
If you gonna tell me you are saved by faith, then what hinders you from telling me that you can have dominion by faith?
If you don’t have the Holy Ghost in you, the Bible says, you are none of His. It was the Holy Ghost that brought you to Jesus and that same Holy Ghost when we are fully submitted to Him has all power and all authority.
If you just trust Him completely, and give yourself, throw yourself at the mercy of Holy Spirit and let Him embrace you believing that He has all the power and authority for you to fulfill everything God demands of us.
God says,
“I have sent a Holy Ghost who abide in you.
He has all power. He has all authority.”
Folks, it has been because we have not trusted in Him. We have not come in complete confidence that He has the power and the authority
Say, “Oh, Holy Ghost. Take over it. Take it. Take it.”
If you’re just looking as the libertines do, if you’re just looking for a way of easy grace, where you can somehow continue in your sin and be saved, this has no meaning for you, whatsoever.
God sent the Holy Ghost through Christ Jesus our Savior, sent a Holy Ghost to release His power in us, the same power that raises Jesus from the dead, the same power that enable Christ, the Son of living God to fulfill the law and to live sinless life. That same power is given to us (Rome 8:11).
What’s our obligation?
Surely God has obligated us.
In some way yes He has.
To believe His words. All God has been looking for from the beginning is a people who would trust Him. “I want people who trust Me, trust My Word.”
The only way you get out is through trusting Him. There’s no other way out.
You’re gonna trust the Holy Ghost.
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present [you] faultless
(at the throne of His mercy) …
(Jude 1:24)
Lord Jesus, let them realise that you’d given this promise, so that they can obey,
so that they can live in favour in victory with the Lord that they can have this joyous freedom.
Then we can enter into what Acts says, The Lord God has raised up his Son Jesus to bless you by turning you away from your sins (Acts 3:26).
Lord, turn us away from our sins!
Turn us all all, you said, all from our sins!
