The River of Life
The River of Life
(The River of Life)
David Wilkerson
The Scripture says, in the midst of all this healing and reviving they’re going to be some that would be left out.
The Bible said,
“they’re gonna be given to salt.”
But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt.
Ezekiel 47:11
Listen to me closely please.
Here’s a warning. This is so heavy. You know it is the heart tonight. There are little mud pottles, that the prophet sees and astonishes in.
Because the river has just a flood of it, it’s just gone over all the marishes, all the mudholes. The river’s gone over. It’s purged and cleansed everything, but these little mudholes, these little marishes …
And the river goes by, and leads them still there. But these little part began to dry up and turn to salt.
They turned to salt, white dry, white barren salt. They’re given to salt. That word means barrenness, fruitlessness.
These are professors of Christianity who have been interdated with the gospel reproof. They have had the Spirit of God planted at their souls. They had the Spirit of God woo them. But they’re unmoved.
These are those living in rebellion. They are blinded and solitude to their own danger. These are Christians who feel deeply but do not change. They cry, and they weep, but they do not obey. They make promises.
There’s lucency. But they never follow through.
You know what salt means. I’m gonna say it again. It’s a spirit and condition of emptiness, barreness, fruitlessness.
These’re those who once a fountain has. These were once those who
had living water springing up. They were (given to salt) because of compromise and sin.
They have become still and empty and dry and given to salt which is absolute barrenness. They had turned from the holy commandment once delivered to them. And this is the real tragedy.
They should’ve been cut off in this river. They should be pouring a force of life. Everything they touch should be becoming to life. Their marriage should be healed. Their children should be healed. Their mates, their children, everything around them, there should be the signs of life beginning to spring up.
But there’s no signs of life. In fact there’s just the opposite. They’re drying up.
It’s a mudhole. It’s empty. It’s dry. It’s fruitless.
A tree’s growing everywhere. Even the dead sea’s coming to life. But bare they sit. God’s passing them by. The river flows on.
Oh Jesus, I don’t want to miss it.
David said,
…He brought me out of dirt,
brought me out of miry clay …
(Psalms 40:2)
Get it out of my heart, God.
Don’t take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Some of you hear this morning.
Don’t take it from me.
… when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath laid upon it;
Deuteronomy 29:22
And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning,
that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass growth therein,
like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, …
Deuteronomy 29:23
Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God
and they continued in the sins.
That’s Moses’ warning to those who do not heed the call of God, to let the river, not only in their heart but drive out and purge and cleanse.
God’s promised me tonight. He was gonna open a river. Because there’s a river. It’s flowing. I’ve seen it. I’m not gonna miss it. I see what’s coming.
Don’t you wanna be a part of that? Don’t you wanna have so much Jesus in you and nothing blocking it?
But you can go against the ungodly and godly life come out of you.
You can look at your dead family and there will be life pouring out of you and no filth, no dirt, but life.
You know that you’re turning aside into marishes. No. Get back into the river. Hallelujah.
You can get right back into the river.
So Lord, I see it.
I don’t want it.
I want You to use me.
I want to bear fruits.
I don’t wanna stand before God empty-handed.
I want to be able to my last breathing moment.
But the last breath I take I wanna be the breath of life.
