Break up the fallow ground
Break up the fallow ground
(Breaking the Yoke)
David Wilkerson
For of old time I have broken thy yoke, and burst thy bands; and thou saidst,
I will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the harlot.
Jeremiah 2:20 KJV
But you see these were taken from even pure, I mean very original Hebrew, it reads like this. Listen closely.
“Surely from old, you have broken off your yoke you have drawn the bands and yet you have said, ‘I will obey!’ when in stand upon every high hill under every green tree You have prostitute yourself like a harlot.”
Jeremiah 2:20
God said to Israel,
“Ever since I’ve called you out.
I picked you up.
I put you into my arms.
I’ve delivered you.”
“But from the very beginning
all you wanted to do is to burst the bonds.
You wanted to get out from the yoke.”
“You don’t want my burden on you.
You don’t want this loving restraints on you anymore.
And you’re to keep saying ‘I want to obey You, God.’”
“And all the time you talk about obedience.
You talk about my Lordship.
But like a prostitute you go out
and sit before your idols hour after hour.
You’re prostituting me.”, He said.
“You’re not a faithful lover to me.
Surely from the very beginning
you’ve tried to break the yoke.
you’ve withdrawn it.”
Do you know that God is still looking for that one who says “He is my Lord.”?
And he says it in his righteousness. He says it not falsely.
But God looks on that man or that woman who says, “He’s the Lord.”
They have up-raised hands God can look down and say,
“That’s the truth.
There’s he is.
There’s she is.
I’ve found him.
I’ve found her.”
They’re not sitting in front of their idols. They’re not living in double standards. They’re not singing one thing and living another. They’re not testifying one thing and living another.
“Here he is. Here she is.
I’ve found that one.”
And He’s still looking.
Do you know what’s possible to testify about that would be truthful?
If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the Lord, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove.
Jeremiah 4:1
And thou shalt swear, The Lord liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.
Jeremiah 4:2
For thus saith the Lord to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.
Jeremiah 4:3
Circumcise yourselves to the Lord, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
Jeremiah 4:4
“I’ve got to get this off my heart.”
But God is saying,
“If you get rid of your idols …”
Don’t tell me your television set isn’t an idol.
I’m gonna look you right now and tell you with love. How do you come here, raise what you call holy hands? How do you stand here, weep for the lost? How do you say, ‘He is my Lord’? And then you go home, you watch such filth that’s incubated in hell. Most of it is by homosexuals, homosexual writers, homosexual minds incubated in very pits of hell.
And you sit there. The saved man doesn’t live with idolatry, not when the Holy Ghost deals with it.
Didn’t He say “His eyes are too holy”? You say Jesus lives in you. Then He’s looking out of your eyes, isn’t He? Didn’t He says “His eyes are too pure”? Aren’t His eyes are too pure? How do you sit before your idols?
He said,
“You sit before your idols and come before My house and say, ‘Lord, Lord.’”
That’s swearing falsely. That’s the very thing that God’s putting His finger on right here that swearing falsely.
That’s what this whole thing is about. This is life and death with us.
That’s why we don’t have to do with the theater crowd out of you. We don’t go with the theaters. We don’t go with the movie houses. We don’t partaken these things because God says,
“No you can’t be a part of that spirit and still keep My anointing.
You can’t walk with Me in righteousness.”
You say, “Well, that’s legalism.” No. That’s obedience.
That dosen’t save you. Getting rid of the television dosen’t save you. None of these things save you.
You’re saved by grace. You’re saved by faith alone and the merit and work of Jesus on the cross. By grace alone we’re saved.
But the saved man who is really saved …
You’re not saved, I’m telling you, if you live in adultery, if you live in fornication. If you’re sitting before your idols you really don’t know Him yet.
He said,
“.. Break up your fallow ground, …”
Jeremiah 4:3
Do you know what ‘fallow ground’ is? ‘Fallow ground’ is a ground
that’s been plowed but neglected. Somebody got all excited, stirred up and went out and they got busy, sweating and they pot up this whole filth and walked away. No seed is planted.
That’s about our getting today people stirred. That’s it. Nothing else.
He said, “No, that’s not enough.”
“You’re getting there and start breaking up that fallow ground.
You get rid of that idolatry.
You start dealing with these things in your life now.
So that I can plant the seed and water it and it can bring forth fruit.”
“Break up that fallow ground!”
Do these things it cause you to do.
Obey Him.
“Break up that fallow ground!”
