A Remnant Priesthood

A Remnant Priesthood

(Zadok and Abithar Priesthoods)

David Wilkerson

Therefore the Lord God of Israel declares, ‘I did indeed say that your house and the house of your father should walk before Me forever’; but now the Lord declares,

“Far be it from Me - for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me will be lightly esteemed.”

1 Samuel 2:30

But I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who will do according to what is in

My heart and in My soul; and I will build him an enduring house, and he will walk before My anointed always.

1 Samuel 2:35

Finding here in 1 Samuel (the) second chapter a curse upon one kind of priesthood and the prophetic raising up of an enduring holy remnant priesthood. You’re gonna hear any man who’s praying now talk about a remnant.

You say, “What’s all this talk about remnant?” Get a hold of God and set yourself in. You’ll hear the same thing that He is raising up a people to Himself after His own heart. That’s an amazing prophecy.

A prophecy that God will raise up a holy remnant priesthood enduring to the end. He said, “I will build it.”

That gives me great comfort that God is doing it.

God is building Himself a priesthood.

A holy, sanctified, separated priesthood.

Now this dual priesthood is very clearly illustrated in the minister Zadok and Abaithar under the Davidic kingdom. This dual priesthood continues. That dual priesthood’s here. God’s desire is to get you out of the Abaithar priesthood into the Zadok priesthood.

The mark of a Zadok priest.

You shall give to the Levitical priests who are from the offspring of Zadok,

who draw near to Me to minister to Me, declares the Lord God,

‘a young bull for a sin offering.

Ezekiel 43:19

I do know that He sees in this vision temple, this pure temple of God. He sees a ministry whose mark is this right here now.

There’re the ones who get the bull, those who one’s given the sacrifice who are from the offspring of Zadok, who draw near to Me to minister to Me.

(Ezekiel 43:19)

That is a mark of ‘a Zadok priest.’ His ministry is to minister only to the Lord, not to the house, but to the Lord. That’s the Zadok priesthood. Now the Zadok priesthood is the descendant from Aaron. The Abaithar ministry is the descendant of Eli.

Abaithar. Now Let’s look at him for a moment if you will. I’d like to establish these two men and their types first.

Now Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, “I will be king.” So he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen with fifty men to run before him.

1 Kings 1:5

He had conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest; and following Adonijah they helped him.

1 Kings 1:7

(It’s) tragic.

But Zadok the priest, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.

1Kings 1:8

He’s not with Solomon. He’s in rebellion. But now comes a ministry of self exaltation, a man centered, self centered ministry. Adonijah exalted himself. That’s the key.

Abaithar the priest followed Adonijah. But what I’m saying is that this man all the time he’s exalting himself and all the time he seduced Abaithar. He’s after this woman (Abishag). Remember this cost him his life eventually. He’s lusting after this woman.

He’s exalting himself, and how a man of God who has peace with God can be seduced by this man I don’t know any more than I can understand how any man of God is being seduced by a ministry of prosperity and self exaltation and self centeredness.

Abaithar gets cut up in it. A pious, once faithful man at the peak of his ministry makes a wrong move. He turns the wrong way unwillingly thinking he’s right in the center of God’s will.

You’ll find your own kind. If you’re the Abaithar priesthood you’ll finally gravitate to that kind of ministry. If you’re the Zadok ministry you’ll find that holy priesthood.

Nathan goes to David and he says,

“Have you appointed Adonijah as king?”

(1 Kings 1:24)

He’s got a man right before him announcing himself as king. David was horrified and he says, “Call to me Zadok the priest.” (1 Kings 1:32)

Who is our David?

“Jesus Christ the Lord.”

And where does the master turn when there’s a crisis in the land?

He turns to Zadok.

Listen to this amazing prophecy.

So Solomon dismissed Abiathar from being priest to the Lord, in order to fulfill

the word of the Lord, which He had spoken concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.

1 Kings 2:27

Is it?

Does that make you tremble?

I tell you the truth. I really do tremble what I hear. Those two priesthoods are in this room.

You can’t sit and watch all that filth and maintain the anointing. You’ll lose it.

Then you’re gonna come and covered with all those tears have been delivered and do these abominations.

No.

God says, “Enough.”

I want to minister to Him. You’re not called to minister to people. You minister to Him. As you minister to Him, the outgrowth of that, the outpouring of that is a ministry to the people.

There have been people here sit in front of idols wasting time. When you get to seeking God with all your heart there’s gonna be spiritual interruption. It’s demonic.

It came to a place with me. I said,

“Lord, I don’t care who it is.

I’m shutting everything down.”

“You’re gonna make me holy before the people.

You’re gonna show me as a holy God by your life.”
